GRA-RPG Portable HF Loaded Coil Antenna 1.8-50MHz

  • The GRA-RPG is a rugged portable HF loaded-coil antenna designed for flexible field operation.
Its adjustable telescopic coil allows quick tuning across 3.5MHz to 50MHz, while the optional 1.8MHz extension expands coverage to the 160m band.
A repositionable clamping lever securely locks the coil after tuning for stable operation in portable environments such as POTA activations and field deployments.

GRA-RPG Portable Loaded Coil HF Antenna

The GRA-RPG is a versatile portable HF antenna designed for amateur radio operators who require reliable performance across multiple bands with minimal setup time.
Unlike traditional fixed-coil antennas, the GRA-RPG features an adjustable loaded coil system that allows users to slide the coil along the antenna body to tune the desired operating frequency.
Once tuned, the position is secured using a repositionable clamping lever, ensuring the coil remains firmly locked during operation.
This lever mechanism allows the handle to be repositioned without rotating the screw thread, providing convenient operation even in tight spaces.
The mechanism is similar to the quick-release clamp commonly used on bicycle seat posts, offering both strength and ease of adjustment.

Wide Frequency Coverage

The antenna body allows operation from:
3.5MHz to 50MHz
By attaching the 1.8MHz extension coil, the antenna can also operate on the 160m band.
For optimal performance on frequencies below 14MHz, the use of a ground radial system or counterpoise is recommended to reduce SWR to a reliable operating range.
Gabil provides the GRA-MAT50 MKII portable grounding system as a convenient solution for field operation.

Designed for Portable Operators

The GRA-RPG was engineered to balance strength and portability.
It is rugged enough for demanding outdoor use while remaining compact enough for portable operators including:
• POTA activations
• Field operations
• Emergency communications
• Portable HF stations
• Manpack radio setups
The antenna structure is reinforced to withstand outdoor environments while maintaining a manageable weight for easy transport.

Flexible Whip Options

The GRA-RPG supports two whip configurations:

Manpack Collapsible Whip

A longer whip designed for easier resonance tuning and improved efficiency, especially on lower bands.

Short Portable Whip

A compact whip option optimized for portability and quick deployment in field conditions.
Both whip options use the Gabil M10-1.0 antenna interface, making the system expandable with additional accessories such as:
• carbon fiber whips
• telescopic whips
• specialized receiving antennas such as discone antennas
This modular design allows operators to adapt the antenna system for different operating scenarios.

Connector Options

The GRA-RPG is available with two base connector options:
3/8-24 connector
UHF (PL-259 / M-P) connector
Users can select the connector type that best matches their antenna mount or radio equipment.
